We all hold scattered pieces of spiritual knowledge—what I call “The Spiritual Puzzle.” Over time, we’ve encountered different ideas, teachings, and perhaps even profound spiritual experiences. Yet, without a clear understanding of the bigger picture, it’s difficult to grasp the true nature of God, humanity, and reality.

The purpose of my recently released book,  A Guide to Understanding the Biblical Puzzle, How the Bible Describes the Spiritual Dimension of Reality From Genesis to Jesus,  is to help you see that bigger picture—both the Spiritual Puzzle and the Biblical Puzzle—so you can understand how all the pieces fit together, and where your piece fits.

What is the Biblical Puzzle

Many people read the Bible in fragments, pulling out verses or passages without seeing how they connect to the whole. But when you step back and grasp the big picture—the narrative of spiritual growth, revelation, and transformation—the Bible becomes far more than a historical document. It becomes a blueprint for understanding the spiritual dimension of reality and applying its wisdom to your daily life.

Trying to play the game of life without understanding the spiritual dimension is like trying to play European football by American football rules. The green grass fields with white stripes might look the same, but if you play by the wrong rules, you will be penalized, you will get frustrated, and there is no way you can enjoy the game or win.

My Journey

As I tried to understand the Big Picture of the Biblical Puzzle my journey took me from the suburbs of Cincinnati to the projects of Cincinnati to the back streets of a small village in India. This book will help guide you on a journey through world history and the history of spiritual thought, helping you understand how spiritual laws, as first taught by Moses and later demonstrated by Jesus, can provide a clearer understanding of how to relate to God and to others and navigate the confusion, suffering, and violence of the material world we are all born into. It explores the origins and development of human reason, leading to an understanding of spiritual laws and the concepts of love, community, equality, forgiveness, grace, and mercy—which did not exist before or outside of Israel when the Old and New Testaments were written.

Why Read the book?

My hope is that as you read this book, it will guide you toward a deeper understanding—of yourself, of life’s bigger picture, or what I call the Spiritual and Biblical Puzzle.

As you gain clarity about the eternal and spiritual dimension of reality, you will begin to experience greater peace, confidence, and purpose. Your everyday decisions and relationships will be shaped not just by immediate circumstances but by an eternal perspective.

Each chapter in the book contains a Key points recap, and questions to help you think deeper about the meaning of that chapter. If you want  a deeper dive that helps you discover more meaning in your life there is a companion study Guide that contains an outline with icebreakers and questions for each chapter. The Study Guide also has daily 72 devotions that can help you as you read through the book.

What is it important to understand your Worldview?

The book starts by talking about your Worldview.

When you become a self aware adult you realize you have a mind and hopefully you eventually realize you have a spirit

It is important to realize that whether you know it or not  everyone has a worldview, what I call your “intellectual operating system.” Just as every computer program is built on an operating system, your worldview consists of fundamental ideas about life and human nature.

Your worldview is the ideological foundation upon which your understanding of yourself and the world is built. It shapes how you interpret everything you experience.

It is very important to make sure your worldview is consistent with the fundamentals of human nature and “Reality”.

If you believe there is a spiritual dimension to reality it helps to realize there are spiritual laws just like there are physical laws. And just like we have physical DNA we have spiritual DNA. Your life changes when you adjust your worldview to incorporate a spiritual understanding and an eternal worldview.

Once you get your worldview in line with the true spiritual nature of reality you will begin to experience greater peace, confidence, and purpose.

To Continue your Spiritual Journey

To help you learn more about the book and to help guide you on your spiritual journey the next blog will discuss more about a spiritual and eternal worldview and how comparing your worldview to the Biblical worldview can help you better understand your own worldview  and the spiritual dimension of reality.

Questions to consider for personal spiritual growth

  1. If a stranger asked, could you clearly articulate your fundamental beliefs and why you hold them?
  2. Have you ever considered yourself to be an eternal spirit?
  3. How would an eternal perspective change your everyday actions?
